This image captures a beautiful blue jay perched in a crabapple tree. Next to the blue jay, there is a large, intricate wasp nest.

When the leaves came off the tree as winter fell, this huge wasp nest became visible. It sat untouched for a couple of months and then, one day, was found by the Blue Jays. Over a couple of days they methodically disassembled it. Apparently, the nest was filled with larvae and pupae that the Jays found delicious. In this case a single tree provided both dinner and apples for dessert.
