Getting Around

The Hideaway is boat in only. We pick you up at the start of your stay and return you to the other side when you leave.

While there are many activities and non-activities to keep one occupied around the Hideaway, there are activities that you might want to pursue that require getting across the water. Normally, with a little planning this is not an issue.

If your timing isn’t critical you are more than welcome to catch a ride with us if and when we need to go across. This is especially useful if you forgot something and need to visit Egmont’s local grocery/liquor/hardware store.

As part of our service we offer one return trip for every 2 days that you are a guest. These trips are based on your needs and our availability and are normally limited to daylight hours. If you need to cross in the dark or more often there is a water taxi that you can hire to bring you across.

If the weather is good and you feel like some exercise there is a double kayak that can be used to get to the other side. The paddle is approximately one or two kilometers each way depending on your destination.

Finally, if you plan to try your hand at fishing or will be crossing regularly you may want to bring your own boat or rent one locally from Bathgate’s in Egmont. This gives you the greatest level of mobility.
